On Wednesday we had our traditional Grizzly Cafe with board games, treats and fun! But we added a bit of twist to this particular Cafe! We are doing a small scale Alison and Wonderland themed month so this Grizzly Cafe was actually a Mad Hatter's Tea Party!!!
Along with the fun and competitive board games the kids created some adorable Mad Hatter Party Hats while sipping some delicious warm tea (caffeine free of course). We had baristas that rocked at their tasks and were quiet the amazing bunch of helpers for the set up and flow of the Cafe! Big shout out to those lovely ladies! (pictured below)
This week I also had the privilege of hosting another epic Girls Group! And wow, this honestly blew me away! This 100% optional activity about bonding as girls, making new friends, and strengthening current friendships had a huge turnout and was extremely productive if you ask me! We started off with some absolutely silly name games that got the girls bodies moving, laughs roaring, and all the names learned in a fun a creative way! We then slipped into a challenging cup stacking contest which got the girls working with others that they normally wouldn't pair themselves with to strengthen their teamwork skills and gave them the chance to excel working with all ages of kiddos! And to finish the whole party off with a bang, we had an awesome compliment circle! We passed around the "log of love" (aka a roll of yarn) while sharing something nice and thoughtful about our friends! I was amazed at how much the girls really enjoyed this part and how every kiddo took it seriously and gave some really amazing compliments that were much deeper than a surface level "cute shoes" compliment.
We talked about how good it makes us feel when someone says something genuine and nice to us, we talked about creating positive and safe environments for everyone to feel comfortable being themselves, and we talked about what it means to be a friend; it was just so awesome to see how much the girls really soaked it all up!
It really makes this job so rewarding and fun seeing these amazing kids learn how to be kind to others and be good friends while still being silly and having a blast!
On that note, look out for some more fun activities to come and some more sap stories from yours truly, Ms Olivia :)
Have an amazing break!
