Let me just say that your students truly amaze me! The creativity, critical thinking, and respect that each of our !MPACT-ers display is heartwarming and inspiring! The most recent example of this great-ness was seen in our bridge building competition this week! Your students were working solo or in pairs to construct a bridge out of popsicle sticks and hot glue. The bridge had to span a 12 inch gap between two tables, and the challenge was to build the bridge that could withstand the most weight, which was measured in the number of poker chips the bridge could hold before it collapsed.
I also want to give Sydney a shout out for her awesome bridge; she joined the competition with only 15 minutes left of building time (1/3 of the time everyone else was allowed), and she was able to snag 3rd place with an impressive 232 poker chips!
These two built a truly remarkable structure! I also appreciated the respect and admiration that they displayed toward their competitors! This was definitely one of my favorite activities that we've done this year, and I am excited to think of more challenges to do in the future!
