Recently, we have started our taste testing group with Ms. Marlene! The kids have really loved this challenge. So far, we have tasted 7 different types of apples and 4 different flavors of chips. Congratulations to Alexa, she guessed 4/7 apples!!!
The kids had some fun making their own pillows and we have quite a few scientists making some slime!
I started our official Friendship Club. We had a lot of friends join in the fun. We talked about what makes a good friend. The students drew an outline of their hand and chose 1 thing for each finger that they could get better at (5 finger friendship challenge). The students also wanted to make posters to invite more kids. At the end of the meeting each child was given a bracelet. Each week that we meet, they will get a new colored bead that represents a friendship commitment that they make. This week we committed to chose one of the 5 finger friendship challenges and work on being better at it. This group really had some nice ideas. - Ms. Kelli

This week I did a Creative Expression art project. We talked about snowflakes and how every single one is different. They were able to create their own snowflake with a coffee filter or painters tape. Everyone was given a painting canvas and got to work!! They laid out the coffee filters and tape then painted over them with blue and white paint. After they dried a little they carefully peeled off the filters and tape!! They were beautiful!! They also were able to paint some glitter on them!! They all did an amazing job and had a lot of fun!!! -Ms. Amelia
This week, we did some science experiments. The first one was called the snowman melt. Students took biodegradable packing peanuts and drew a snowman (or whatever they wanted) onto it. Next, they placed them in a pan with warm or cold water. Then, students took guesses to determine which would melt the fastest. We set the timer. The warm water melted them the fastest! It took 7 minutes in the warm water and after 45 minutes in the cold water the snowman had not fully melted. -Ms. Kelli
This past week, we had our Club 54 meeting. Club 54 is the fourth and fifth grade students at Eagle Club. They have been brainstorming ideas for activities that they want to lead with the younger kids. So this past week, one of the activities was a coloring contest. The contest page was brought from a student whose mom works for the Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience. The page is called "2017 Year of he Rooster". If students participate they can take their entry in and receive free admission. The prizes are super great! Ms. Kelli
